Hannah Brenninkmeijer
The fact that we often support businesspeople on a long-term basis and with various privacy and employment law issues means that we build up a personal relationship of trust with them. As a result, they feel safe discussing confidential matters and that enables us to get to know their business and vision properly so that we can provide an even better service. Because we are businesspeople ourselves, we have an above-average understanding of their problems. With a little help from us, we can change the way they communicate with their employees in such a way that the relationship is restored, or the dossier built up properly, or both.
Together with Babs Dubois, Hannah Brenninkmeijer makes up LOYR’s employment law and privacy team. Employment law is a very personal field of law because it focuses on people and how you, as an entrepreneur, deal with them. In times of growth, it is important to continue looking critically at workforce composition and the conditions you use to attract new staff. By getting advice on time, you can avoid a great deal of pain later on.
A reorganisation, a new work structure, or an adjusted vision, all have consequences for both the employer and the employees. Employment contracts and conditions must, of course, be legally correct and comply with the statutory frameworks. However, it is just as important that they are suitable for your organisation. If you do have to let staff go, it is important that this is done properly, carefully and with the right amount of attention for the affected employee(s).
Hannah advises and litigates in the field of individual and collective redundancy law, terms and conditions of employment, absenteeism, illness and incapacity for work, co-determination law and transfers of business ownership. She also specialises in privacy in the workplace and gives workshops on data and privacy (awareness) to entrepreneurs and employees.
Within LOYR, Hannah focuses on advising and supporting businesspeople in employment and privacy law matters. Her work involves not only drawing up employment contracts, conditions of employment and privacy protocols, but also coaching businesspeople on performance management and caring for staff. Businesspeople who keep a finger on the pulse are more able to estimate when to enter into a discussion with their employees about possibilities, opportunities or problems.
Hannah has registered employment law in the legal register of the Dutch Bar Association. On the basis of this registration, Hannah must obtain ten permanent education points in every main registered jurisdiction every year in accordance with the standards of the Dutch Bar Association.
