Jasper van Mens is an entrepreneur and lawyer specialised in corporate law. He is frequently asked to advise directors of, for example, investment companies, tech companies and businesses in the creative sector.

In the new economy developments are taking place at lightning speed and almost everything has intentional or unintentional legal consequences. Jasper is an experienced lawyer who is aware of what is going on and feels at home among passionate entrepreneurs. He is strategic and resolute and has a practical attitude. This makes him an excellent sparring partner.

Jasper assists with a variety of transactions, advises shareholders, directors and members of the supervisory board on the legal possibilities. He likes to contribute to their businesses’ development and profitability. He also has experience with the litigating on a wide range of issues, including director’s liability, transaction-related disputes, the liability of financial institutions and disputes between shareholders.

Jasper has registered corporate law in the legal register of the Dutch Bar Association. On the basis of this registration, Jasper must obtain ten permanent education points in every main registered jurisdiction every year in accordance with the standards of the Dutch Bar Association.

Corporate law

Together with Zabih Etemadi, Jasper van Mens is a member of the LOYR corporate law team. Issues relating to corporate law often include employment law aspects as well. In that case the team is complemented by the firm’s employment law specialist, Babs Dubois.

CV

Jasper studied law at the University of Groningen and has been practising as a lawyer in Amsterdam since 2006. When working for a large law firm, he started specialising in corporate law. In 2016 Jasper founded LOYR, together with Floris Havelaar and Zabih Etemadi.

In 2015/2016 Jasper completed the Grotius specialist course in corporate law and liability law. Jasper is a member of the Association for Corporate Litigation and the Netherlands Association for Procedural Law.

In addition to his legal work Jasper has several other passions. He is a keen kite surfer, sailor and runner. As a member of a racing sailing team Jasper competed in various offshore sailing competitions and has also run several marathons.
